Spherical Sinusoidal Spiral by

This spiral was created by tweaking one of the flames included with the Making Spiral in Apophysis Tutorial by dA’s moonhigh (Richard). This is the latest tutorial being done in the Apophysis Tutorial Fun group. Spirals are always fun to play with. This tutorial uses a slightly different approach in that it suggests you start with a random flame generated by Apophysis and then tweak with some basic instructions.

Fractal created using Apophysis 7X v14 and postwork done in PhotoPlus X6.

I am a recent fractal artist, just since 2008. I have fallen in love with this type of art because of the infinite variety of form, fabulous colors and great lighting effects that can be achieved. The software is mostly free and I dabble with most of them. If you enjoy fractal art, please take a look at my gallery. I would be thrilled if you stop by and say “Hi” and make a comment (or not)!

Beautiful Spiral and wonderful colors Peggi!

  • Thank you very much, James! It was a lot of fun to play with the tutorial. Though, I find starting with a random flame a bit of a round-about way to make a spiral. Just starting with a linear3D and adding another transform, like another linear3D, spherical, sinusoidal, or, my favorite, radial blur, and you can generate a ton of spirals. It’s almost infinite the looks you can generate with just a couple of transforms.
to you and yours, James! Hope it’s a great one!
