I run two websites: Where Light Meets Dark and Mainland Devils . The first is dedicated to examining the evidence for rare fauna – especially Australian. It also includes some of my wildlife photography, examples of which can be found right here.
The second is dedicated to the search for Tasmanian devils on mainland Australia. This is one of three wildlife search projects I am engaged in. The other two are for the Eastern quoll on mainland Australia (see my first website) and the Tasmanian tiger, or thylacine, anywhere in the world.
Sales of photographs will supplement the revenue generated by advertising on those sites. Together these offset a tiny, miniscule fraction of the costs of research, website development, equipment acquisition, personal time, fuel and other costs associated with furthering these projects. Despite this, in no way do I make any sort of profit at all at the end of the day.
The animal on my head is a Crimson Rosella in Wilson’s Promontory National Park, Victoria, Australia. The name “Rosella” is a corruption of “Rose Hill-er” (Rose Hill being a suburb near Parramatta in Sydney) because that’s where many of them were found by first-settlers. The suburb was named by Governor Phillip about 1790.
