Australia – My Country

I was born here in Australia
In the year Nineteen Twenty Nine
I have never been to another country
What we have here, suits me fine,

We have rivers, Mountains, Deserts
Beaches of snow white sand
We have villages, towns & outbacks
And cities, oh so grand

There is Kakadu & Uluru
And waterfalls galore
There is flora and fauna
Wildlife by the score

We have migrants by the thousands
Who have come, to make there home
They have settled in and raised their kids
Never more to roam.

They have brought with them some new ideas
Of the way things should be done
We welcome them with open arms
To our land of sand and sun

We have some world class sports persons
In every kind of sport
We have won many Olympic Medals
And in many wars we have fought.

I’m proud to be an Australian
And be there on Anzac Day
To give praise to those who gave their lives
So as we can be here today

Now my time is nearly over
I am past my used by date
Thought I should express my feelings
Before it’s too late.

And when I get to Heaven
And enter through the gate
I am sure I will be greeted
With a GOODAYE MATE
