Rest Well at the Haven Modern Motel by

An old rusting bedframe sits exposed to all the elements inside what remains of this cottage bungalo in the lost Haven Modern Motel ruins. To give you an idea of the size of these tiny bungalo’s this is full size twin bed with a small shower and bathroom off the foot of the bed.

Modern ruins. I love it! The texture on the back wall looks like corrugated cardboard.

  • Thank you Kathleen…this is from the ruins of the Haven Modern Motel here in southern Wisconsin. Haven, in her glory days, was quite the unique motel. A lot of love and hard work went into constructing this motel and its many tiny bungalo’s. It was built back in the late 30’s and later abandoned by its 2nd owner in the mid to late 80’s. It’s a real shame that nobody else came along and saved this place from slipping into such devastating ruin.

I love the way that you apply the colors in your images. . . they are vibrant but not so much that they are not realistic. . . very cool!

  • Thank you Restlessed…actually the colors are pretty close to their natural colors. Every single one of these dozen or so bungalos are all changing colors on their own…altered by the very hand of Mother Nature….

There is just something about the way this photo comes together that I love. The textures, colors and the objects, Mother Nature has created a work of art.

  • Yes it’s really quite amazing how things change colors from being exposed to the raw elements for so many years……
