Lady Tipton

Lady Tipton took to sea,
She sailed the ocean in a cup of tea.
Steeping so long in the warm fragrant brew
Tinted her skin a soft golden hue.

Over her head, the pale crescent moon
Stirred her heart like a silver teaspoon.
She gazed at the stars – there was such a clear view!-
Lights sparkling darkly like small sugar cubes.

She was gone for a year, and maybe a day.
When people would ask her, “How could you stay?
In the chill of the night and the heat of the day?
With the creatures who churn in the depths of the sea,
With waves that could upend such a small cup of tea?”

Lady Tipton smiled her mysterious smile,
And gazed towards the coast for a good long while.
She recalled the salt, the wet and the foam
A year spent afloat away from her home:
“I didn’t much mind being oh-so-alone,
But I did often long for a blueberry scone!”
