My Parents in early 40's by Marjorie Wallace

Currently unavailable for purchase

My parents were married in the early 40’s. Shortly after their wedding, they drove across country to live in Maryland and my Dad was a part of the security for the White House. My mother worked for the census bureau. Late in 1942 they returned to Seattle to be with family and to build our home and start our family. This is a treasured photo that I have of them and it graces my wall in an oval frame. For this image, I corrected the color to make it more intense This photo was taken in B/W and color tinted by hand.

Cameras and photography captured my interest years ago as a child with my little Brownie. The cameras have changed over the years until the Digital age when I got really serious about photography. Not only has my work improved, but it has opened many doors to meeting wonderful people along the way. New friendships and learning new skills… I am hopeful that some of my best work is yet to come.

How beautiful, Marjorie!!! Is this a hand colored photo? What a treasure indeed!

  • Yes, it is hand tinted and I actually adjusted the color in PS to brighten it up. I have also posted an identical image, but it is not as bright. More pastel. Not sure which one I like the best.

Very nice picture sure looks like back in the day, great looking couple:-)

  • Thank you, Linda. Can you believe how tiny her waist is? She was 5’8" or 9" and so graceful.

Marjie, this is a true gem! What a fabulous treasure to have in your life everyday. They look so nice. Hugs, Carol

  • Thank you very much, Carol. I am fortunate to have this treasure. So few photos from our childhood. Not like today when we take thousands of photos a year with our high tech cameras.

i like this one the best, the colours are rich while still maintaining the vintage qualities (the previous foto appears faded) i love her dress !!
your parents are so handsome, this is a precious foto of them.

  • Oh thank you, Karon. I enriched the colors in photoshop. I love this old photo of them and I am the only one in the family who has one like this. I do not know what has happeded to the rest of them. Working on a project with this as the basis.
