Office at Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch by

Carmel-by-the-Sea ~ Middle of May
Mission Ranch is a wonderful tourist attraction and a rather large project that Clint Eastwood took on, when developers threatened to level in order to build a lot of condominiums. The property was lovingly restored to a beauty beyond what it had ever known in it’s lifetime. Charming cottages to stay in and a fabulous restaurant for dinner. I would love to stay here next time I come for a visit. This house is only one of the many buildings on the property.

Featured “A Home somewhere…” ~ 30 January 2010

More than a few local residents breathed a sigh of relief when Clint Eastwood bought the historic Mission Ranch property on the Carmel River in 1986. It wasn’t just the threat that the old ranch would be torn down and replaced by condominiums. That was bad enough. But the possibility of losing the restaurant that had been a favorite local hangout for as long as some of them could remember made it doubly distressing.

Cottage at Mission Ranch from famous movie
If you ever saw the movie, “A Summer Place” with Sandra Dee and Troy Donohue about 1959, this cottage was in the movie. It is more lovely these days with Mr. Eastwood making sure that everything here is kept ship shape. The rose bush climbing over the front door and window would be such a gorgeous sight in a few weeks when those hundreds of buds burst into bloom. The front door is just a short walk to the ocean.

Cameras and photography captured my interest years ago as a child with my little Brownie. The cameras have changed over the years until the Digital age when I got really serious about photography. Not only has my work improved, but it has opened many doors to meeting wonderful people along the way. New friendships and learning new skills… I am hopeful that some of my best work is yet to come.
