Thank you so much, Carol. That chair may look white to you as it is against the rich colour of the lavender plants, but it actually was a pale lavender. It was light enough to make enough of a contrast.

The fragrance can be simply wonderful and seems strongest when it is very warm.

Thank you very much, Rosalie. The fragrance was actually very light. That day was bright overcast and so cool you needed a sweater or light coat. It seems that it is the warmth that sends the fragrance into the air. I believe the bright overcast was perfect for photographing the flowers, as the color was brighter.

Thank you so much, Rod. The day was very cool and there was no fragrance at all, but I remember last year, it was very bright and sunny and I nearly swooned from the heavenly fragrance. Not strong at all, but just light and delicdious. We had a treat of lavender ice cream. OMG! It was simply divine.

The lavender turned out looking so rich and deep, When I first saw this image on my screen, my breath caught in my thoat and I wanted to throw my camera in my car and drive back up there. Although, since then it has been very bright and sunny, which now brings out the fragrance. It is awesome!

HI Rhonda! Thank you so much for your comments. Yes, indeed, I am also thankful not to be up the the Lavender fields this week. It is SOOOOOOO hot here. In the 90’s for those who do not know. In humid Washington state, that becomes simply miserable for so many of us web-footed creatures. I do hope you can get that computer fixed soon and do not loose any more photos. My computer is still hanging in there and I love it. My big screen to more enjoy my beautiful photographs or even watch a movie if I so choose. I think his was taken on a tripod for it is just a tiny bit lower angle and the colours are just a little bit different. Also, Sequim is nicknamed the Provence of America. How I would love to visit the real Provence on day and get some magical images to treasure.

Thank you very much, Eve. When I return to these Lavender fields, I feel as if a magic spell has been cast over me. I am so happy to have captured the essence of what I was feeling to share with everyone.

Thank you, Eve. I used to work for a company called L’Occitane en Provence. It’s roots are buried deep in the Lavender fields of Provence, where Oliver Baussan, the founder of his company started his business in 1976. He used steam distillation to extract the oils from the Lavender buds. He would make beautiful soaps and sell them at the markets in France. His company has grown to over 700 boutiques in over 70 countries, with so many lovely products for the skin and scents for the home. But it was the year 2000, when I went to work for that company. I absolutely fell in love with the lavender fragrance in his fabulous rustic soaps that are produced annually from the fresh lavender harvests. Even though I thought I had a sensitivity to fragrance, I found that I thrived while I worked with these natural fragrances. Now, I have such a deep appreciation for the magic of the lavender fields, that when I visit them, I feel as if a spell has been cast over me. These fields are in Sequim, Washington, what is called the Provence of America, for the growing conditions are similar to those fields of southern Provence at the foot of the French Alps.
