Cottage at Mission Ranch

MISSION RANCH
Carmel-by the Sea, California
If you ever saw the movie, “A Summer Place” with Sandra Dee and Troy Donohue about 1959, this cottage was in the movie. It is more lovely these days with Mr. Eastwood making sure that everything here is kept ship shape. The rose bush climbing over the front door and window would be such a gorgeous sight in a few weeks when those hundreds of buds burst into bloom. The front door is just a short walk to the ocean.

Thank you, Leena. Clint Eastwood saved this part of Carmel from the developers by buying up the Mission Ranch and restoring all of these vintage buildings. They look even better than could have been years ago. I would love to stay in this cottage.

Excellent photo and Linda and I were both impressed with the history that you gave about it being in the movie and Mr. Eastwood’s current affiliation with the cottage!!!
Marjorie Wallace replied
Thank you ER. It has been many years since Mr. Eastwood completed the many improvements and restorations to the Mission Ranch complex. He has proved to be one of the very best things that has ever happened to Carmel-by=the-Sea.
