Incense

I was watching an incense burn, and it stirred up memories of my ex-boyfriend (you know who you are!) who I dated for about a year. Maybe not very long for anyone else, but that was a personal record for me. The split was quite recent, and it hurt. It still does.

Incense belongs to the following groups:

All Out Emotion, All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Art Inspired by Dreams, Core [C.O.R.E], Friends of RedBubble, Lesbian and Bi-Women's Art, Live, Love, Dream: May you have a Blessed Christmas Season , Masterpieces: Literary Workshop, Practising the Dark Arts, Up & Coming Writers and WMG

Smoke.
How it curls about the lit end
Of a stick dipped in blended herbs,
And set upon a burner.
How it spells out your past,
And foretells your future.
How it won’t let you forget
The things that you adore,
And the things that you hoped
You could lock away in the depths
Of your heart.

How your name curls out from the stick.
Your face drawn by the silky flows
Of the silvery gray.
The incense won’t let me forget you.
The incense won’t let me forget.
Smoke.
When I try to look away,
Its soft, spindling fingers
Lightly beckon me to look back
At the swirling joys and sorrows
Of the world.

As the stick burns low,
And the smoke begins to fade,
You think about all the things
That were stirred up
By the hands of the incense.
The smell begins to leave your nostrils,
But not your mind.
This is the Majik of
Smoke.
