Phone Call

You call, I answer.
We talk, we laugh,
We tell each other goodnight
About a thousand times,
But we never get around to hanging up.

Another conversation
Bubbles to the surface
Every time we say
G-O-O-D-B-Y-E.

Snuggled in our own beds,
So far apart,
Yet so close together.
The little talking magic box
Has you trapped inside.

I challenge you…….
To another contest………………
Another showdown…………………………..
To see who can stay awake………………………………….
The longest…………………………………………………………………………..

You win.
My eyes are shut,
But my ears are still open.
I can still hear you,
Even though I don’t know it.
You’re whispering things
To me
As I sleep.

You fall asleep too,
Eventually,
And we meet each other,
In our dreams.

Artist's Description

A sweet little poem inspired by a sweet little phone call. The first line popped into my head, I wrote around it. The “you” refers to my boy friend/ best friend.
