seeking slot canyon advise

I will be heading up to Antelope Canyon and the surrounding area for a commercial shoot and would love input on some of the better places and times to shoot some of the slot canyons while there??? Any suggestions?

As far as I know you cannot get in there without an Indian Guide. Also, Bring a plastic wrap for your camera and lens cause the sand in the canyon is VERY FINE. When I was there I got out of the canyon and my lens was full of sand. Killed that lens. Sorry I don’t know of any times or other places to go there. I went there around 11:30am i think. Careful the Indians do not follow Daylight savings time. Have fun it’s an awesome place to be in there.

    Thank you,
We have a special permit to get into some rare canyons this weekend, so I am trying to make the most of the opportunity. I really appreciate your responding to the post.

I wish I had seen this earlier, I hope you were able to find out what you needed. If not, for future reference you do need a guide to get into the upper and lower Antelope Canyons. I believe you can get a half hour and a one hour tour and some of the operators have special tours for photographers.

    thanks Bob,
I was in a fortunate situation where I was shooting for both Hummer and the Navajo’s so I had the place to myself for 4 hours, also two days in Secret Canyon where all day the only humans we saw were the 6 in our group. I had some good shots in my time away from the commercial shoots I was doing and have the opportunity now to create a series of workshops with the Navajo Nation.
