The Trees Are Wise

The forest was quiet
There was wind between the trees
No birds singing
Just the rustle of leaves

The trees are talking amongst,
Themselves
Quietly
About who would be sacrificed and who would last
About those that were lost to fires of the past
Small ones gathered around listening to the stories they are told
Trying to find the reason they hold

Growing green
Then to Gold
Telling stories
Growing old

Years taken there toll
Bark is gnarled and knotted
But deep from within their soul
A quiet beauty is spotted

We provide Homes
And we anchor the Earth
They are killing our Brothers
For corporate worth

We Shade the Ground
We clear the Air
Where you find no Trees
You find a state of despair

Save their life
To save our lives
But don’t listen to me
Listen to the Trees
The Trees Are Wise
