The T45 was the first rear engined car to win a major race. In 1959, Jack Brabham, along with the Cooper factory team, would become the first to win the Formula One World Championship in a rear-engined car. By 1960, many Formula 1 teams would follow Cooper’s lead by switching to a mid-engined layout.
