Chrysler’s Talbot 1600Ti Hatchback wasn’t quite hot enough to take on rivals Ford and Vauxhall in international rallying so they commissioned Lotus to produce the ultimate version of the car. Henri Toivonen served notice of their intent by winning the 1980 RAC Rally and the 1981 World Rally Manufacturers Title went to Lotus Sunbeam. The car shown is the Andrews Heat For Hire sponsored version driven by Russell Brooks in the highly competitive British Rally Championship in 1980/81. Photographed at Race Retro, Stoneleigh March 14th 2010.

Confirmed Petrol Head first and foremost, who happens to enjoy photography as a hobby.
I was bitten by the motor sport bug at a young age and prefer long distance sports car racing over single seaters. I also love the passion and enthusiasm of the owners and drivers of historic race cars and find this form of motorsport, as well as rallying, the most spectacular because of the lower grip levels and loose style of driving employed.
