Confirmed Petrol Head first and foremost, who happens to enjoy photography as a hobby.
I was bitten by the motor sport bug at a young age and prefer long distance sports car racing over single seaters. I also love the passion and enthusiasm of the owners and drivers of historic race cars and find this form of motorsport, as well as rallying, the most spectacular because of the lower grip levels and loose style of driving employed.

    Brilliant Willie!
My absolutely top favourite of all cars.
I can tell you the story about every of the 65 chassis built in the time between 1968 and 1975.
This 917 026/031 achieves the second place in Le Mans 24h racing (12.06.1971) by the drivers Attwood / Müller

  • I was at school at the time, but remember the drivers who raced them. Awesome cars and pilots. Thanks for the history on this one which I will add to the description with your permission?

Very nice indeed Willie!! Legendary car in its most famous livery – the 917 just never looks as good as it does in the classic Gulf colours in my view.

  • Thanks. I have to agree the Gulf colours on a 917 are iconic.
