  • William Vande... replied

Yes I use photo references for the owl. The totem I had to be creative and give it a weathered look. The background is quite simple but I made that up too. Thanks for the great comment!

Hi there William. I have been looking at this one a while. Trying to figure out what he is trying to tell, me. He is really talking. This is about ancient wisdom isn’t it? And there is such a sadness. The fallen totem.(owl totem?) Or am I being unnecessarily pessimistic? Maybe I can take heart in the lush of Mother Nature ( the thick forest backdrop) that seems to be reclaiming what was never not hers…The owl knows it all. Me?...I’m just guessing.

    I love your work.

  • William Vande... replied

I’m so sorry, I missed this great comment.
This is about …Wisdom is eternal and, although man thinks he is intelligent, intelligence(knowledge) isn’t necessarilly wisdom

wow-this is an incredible work on so many levels. It made me pause for a very long time-which is great! The owl’s gaze pulled me in, then I got lost in the mist. Love the way it is painted and the symbolism.
