This is a beautiful painting, the foreground jostling for the eye’s attention, the remoteness of the seller and that amazing wall, which is like an abstract in itself. For me this does what no photograph can do, because you have captured more than a moment, much more.

  • William Stanf... replied

thanks Nicholas…..India offers so much for the painter….cheers Bill

Your paintings look like photos. What talent you have. Perfection !!

  • Colin Cartwright

    Colin Cartwright

It’s no way a criticism, Bill. Just the reverse! Most of us can’t do this, so prefer a painterley, ‘impressionistic’ style.

  • William Stanf... replied

Hello Colin…sorry you thought I may have taken it the wrong way….you do raise an interesting point though..when does realism become photo realism…my artistic interpretation of a subject matter is zero which is why I have always regarded myself as a painter moreso than an artist….and its why I have always admired though with that ‘painterly ’ style you mentioned….but at the end of the day we work with what we got…..cheers Bill
