A Wolf in Sheeps Clothing

A sheep walked past me
in the street
I did not notice
till I saw its feet
I’m a shoes girl

But later on
I begged to differ
That was no sheep
it had a sniffer
And pointy ears

I smelt a rat
in it’s rat a tat coat
It was never a sheep
but a wolf come to gloat
On my naïveté

They hide themselves
these wolves you see
They hide themselves
from themselves and me
But oh they’re still out there

Don’t get me wrong
wolves have their place
They’re wild, they’re gorgeous
and they quicken the pace
Of our hearts

Never a scowl
or a spooky howl
Just teeth bared smiles
and lip smacking jowls
Heading my way

Bitchy baying
at the moon
Bitchy comments
and silver spoon, with plum
In ones mouth

Hard to pick
that wolves caustic
Dressed in the waiters garb
of the cloven sheep
Pointing the way

It’s hard to see
down my pointed nose
Even harder to feel
in my pointy heart
He says with his glinting eyes

And one needs to wonder
the why
Of a waiter, despising the waiting
of a wolf
dressed in sheep’s clothing?

If patience is a virtue
then waiting must be virtuous
And such virtuosity
must be rewarded
By flexing a scything wit

All flowing into my soup
as he attempts
To blow
my house

I’ll huff
and I’ll puff
And you wont be enough
to make
Me smile

I’ll season your food
with peppered rage
I’ll wait your table
in such a way
You’ll sit up and take note

That Little Bo Peep
has lost her sheep
To the big bad wolf
who waited
On tables of plenty

This is awesome baby girl. The weaving and entwining of myth and legend and attitudes, and fear and overcoming that fear and conquering the wolf who really is himself a sheep in wolves clothing. I have a penchant for wolves and was told by a shaman that one is protecting me. I don’t think they would harm us deliberately. They are very clever animals who run with the pack and then spend an aloofness, or time alone. Brilliant write, refreshing, clever, witty, smooth, you have some great images and words in the depths of you. I would not want to be the waiter getting on the wrong side of you. That said, it is so amazing. You tell a perfect story. I loved this and it certainly deserves a public air. Are you ready to read aloud again???

  • I love wolves too, they’re amazing and beautiful animals…and I actually didn’t say anything to the waiter…the second day I went there he was the same, so that killed the bad day theory, I shifted to the place across the way…I’m not looking for those kinds of spices in my soup…
I’m soo glad you like it…I loved mixing fable with my daily bread…big love…xxx
