It never was a photograph. I have watched mallards landing on that pond many times. Years later, I painted it from memory. I do a lot of work from memory even though it’s not crystal clear at times. :) But, imagination, I have. I like to study animals , birds and waterfowl and when I need a refresher on a color, form or wing such as a woodduck, I do some research to somewhat refresh my memory again. I feel humble and grateful that fine art is one of my gifts. Oh, my family always ” watch her mind’s eye!” She’ll come up with something.
