Inspiration

I have to say, things happen for a reason. I awoke around 2:30am and couldn’t go back to sleep, and so I got up. Chatted with various friends on here, one of them being Maria Dryfhout who on a whim, without her even telling me to, I went out on an adventure to take some pictures of the rising sun. I had spotted the sunrise from our front window of the house, and started to take pictures from there, but that really wasn’t good enough. – and so, while chatting with Maria, who I know would have done it, I did it too!! In my PJ’s still, I set out just after 7am, with a pull on hat and my camera. Not far from here, I found a dirt road off the highway and proceeded to drive down it, with fields on both sides of me. This road went forever! A little scared and unsure, I stopped and got out of my car, to take pictures… while doing this, out of nowhere, I hear a familiar sound. Sandhill Cranes!!! They are flying above me…. and really are all around. – I can hear them off in the distance, and see them as well. I’ve never heard them in our area, or seen them in our area, but they are here, and I hope they stay for a bit longer. I did try to find where their resting place is, but failed. I even asked a couple people…. so, when I have my husband or my dad with me, we will go in search of them.

So my inspirational friend Maria, I thank you. You didn’t tell me to go do it (I probably didn’t give you much of a chance), but I think I knew you were telling me to just go do it. – and so I did.

The only thing that stinks about this spontaneous adventure of mine, I didn’t crab my camera bag, and so I didn’t have my telephoto… but, I did still point my 55mm lens up towards the sky, at those glorious birds. I hope I got something I can share here with you all.

If you don’t know, I’m an avid bird lover! Which I did happen to see the male and female Northern Harrier aka Marsh Hawk, Red-tailed hawks, Starlings, and other birdlife.

.... and so, things happen for a reason.

Kimberly, I can really identify with your story. I have a real hard time getting those great morning shots – I need to drag me out of bed early and just go for it like you did. And there’s no telling what you will find – SANDHILL CRANES – YaaaY ! (I’m an avid bird lover too.

One of my favorite word (s) is “serendipity” “serendipitous”. It certainly seems you had quite a serendipitous morning adventure.

Thanks for inspiring me. too. : ) Wendy / ItsAboutLight

Wonderful Kimmie. I should try something like that myself next time I can’t slep. When opportunities present themselves…take them…even in pj’s. You’ve also inspired me. lol

I am glad you were inspired in your PJ’s. Comfort is best. Glad to be there for you. Again… like the saying on my refrigerator…” What I like most about photography is the moment that you can’t anticipate; you have to be constantly watching for it, ready to welcome the unexpected.” author unknown
