Artist's Description

I spotted this very sickly Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo and quickly realised that it’s upper beak had become overgrown (probably due to beak and feather disease), preventing it from feeding properly, and to further emphasise it’s plight it was perched at the very tip of a dead Grey Box Eucalypt. The metaphor was not lost on me.
It clearly did not have long left to live and I did not see it again in the area.
We sometimes forget that amongst the beauty and vitality in nature, there is also death.
