Artist's Description

I managed to get very close to this Long-Billed Corella feeding on Onion Grass (Romulea rosea). This species was nearly wiped out in the 30’s because of agriculture destroying the wildlowers it fed on and for which it has a specialised long upper beak and tongue.
Fortunately, it managed as a species to find an alternate food in the form of introduced Onion Grass, which is widespread and it’s numbers recovered.
