Goanna : Varanus gouldii
The Goanna is a very large carnivorous ground-dwelling monitor and can be found widely across Australia. Males fight for a female during the breeding season and can often be seen standing or running on their hind legs. The Goanna features prominantly in the ‘Dreamtime’ stories of the aboriginal peoples of Australia.
