Artist's Description

This is a vertical cypress fence, which has lichens growing all over it. They are beautiful. It had snowed, and was melting. I tracked this drop of melting snow /water drop all the way through the little patch of lichens and was desperately trying to set my camera below them before it fell. I did what amounted to Point and Pray, something I do a lot. (LOL) I managed to get several shots before the drop fell. The whole thing took 40 seconds, tops. I was moving fast!! This was the only shot in bright light, they all came out, they were just shaded. It was taken in December 2011, in Stuttgart,Ark USA. There’s actually 2 kinds of lichens here, I think. A low scaly kind, and the clumps of spiky, like hair, type that sticks out about an inch. I would like to know what they are called, maybe someone knows. It looks like a Martian landscape. I loved how the drop magnifies things. It was taken with a Sanyo VPC-E2100.
