This is a field across the street from my house, on the Arkansas Grand Prairie. I’ve waited ALL season for THIS SHOT! On pins and needles the last week. Prayed it would be a sunny day, in the afternoon, and the combine would be coming TOWARD me with the mighty Riceland Foods in the background. Had nightmares they harvests early. I wouldn’t even go out of town, for fear I would miss it. I DID go to Walmart, and WAS gonna go to Dollar General, but the Photo Angels said Go HOME NOW!!! I always obey. They were with me!! I pulled up to my street and saw with HORROR the combine was making its turn. I drove over to the nearby cemetery, drove airborn OVER the curb and open grass and drove up TO the field. Jumped out with my ever handy camera, jumped the mud ditch, never MIND the Water Moccasins and snapped away. I think I startled him, I got REAL close, no zoom needed. I had a blast, got some KILLER shots! Of course, the Ice Cream melted, so did my frozen foods. THEY can be re bought, but photo ops can’t!!! It’s funny what adrenaline can do. I couldn’t RE JUMP that ditch to save my life!!! THEN I was afraid of snakes. I had to walk to the street, and walk and look for a Turn Out to get out, and walk back. But it was worth it, I was happy. Had no Ice Cream, but happy. We are the Rice and Duck Capital of the World, here in Stuttgart, Ark USA. WE love our Rice!!! Taken 2013 with a SanyoVPC-E2100.
I’ve had a camera in my hand since the old Swinger Camera days (remember those?). EVERYWHERE I go, my cameras go. My friends and family gave up trying to separate us a long time ago….But I’m relatively new to digital photography. I keep saying “Where have you been all my life…?” There are so many beautiful images on Red Bubble. I’m SO inspired!
