This is dedicated to those of us (and you KNOW who you ARE!!) who are absolute slaves to our pets. Like me braving red wasps to fill a clean pool for my persnickety City Duck! Ya gotta read the story! LOL….This is my pet Rouen Duck Rufus anxiously waiting for me to fill his pool. This is his absolute favorite thing in the whole wide world. Every spring, as soon as freezing has passed, I bring out The Big Blue Pool. Its quite a ceremony, and he goes nuts, flapping, running around and and quacking. Its a ritual we’ve done now for 14 years (and 7 pools so far). Wild ducks will swim in a Swamp. Farm ducks will swim in a Mud Puddle. But Rufus is a City Duck. He has a Pool, and if I don’t refresh it every day (or in summer Twice a day) he will peck on the back storm door, and quack. LOUD! And I’m so well trained. I will drop everything and go fill it. During the winter, he uses the Small Black Horse Tub, it won’t freeze. Hes not as fond of it. I even have to store the Pool out of sight during the winter, or he stands by it and obsesses over it. He’s quite a character! Taken 2013 with a SanyoVPC-E2100.

I’ve had a camera in my hand since the old Swinger Camera days (remember those?). EVERYWHERE I go, my cameras go. My friends and family gave up trying to separate us a long time ago….But I’m relatively new to digital photography. I keep saying “Where have you been all my life…?” There are so many beautiful images on Red Bubble. I’m SO inspired!

I can remember our 2 ducks and they loved their pool too! Everytime we filled it with clean water, they would jump in and get frisky and then after they made it dirty again, wouldn’t get back in it until it was clean again! I miss them.

Oh how pretty! Our ducks were really friendly too except for the unfortunate but delicious Peepers! One day we thought our neighbors dog had killed Wanky our Pekin. White feathers all over the yard and a big blood puddle and we couldn’t find her. My husband was furious and went to borrow a different neighbors gun to kill the dog. (Tim had a bad temper!) As he pulled back into the yard Wanky came waddling up from the swamp. We were so happy to see her! Turns out the neighbors dog got shot by the local turkey farm for killing his stock.
