Charlton Gully, AUSTRALIA

Falling 48 feet from a cliff, fracturing your spine, both ankles and both feet, might be expected to restrict some people’s physical and psychological fitness for bushwalking, surfing, sailing, sea kayaking, mountain biking, SCUBA diving, rock climbing and orienteering. Not Phil Porter. In fact, he decided to make these activities his career! Phil now runs Wilderness Wanders, taking adventurers around the Eyre Peninsula and Flinders Ranges, sharing the special spots he’s discovered throughout his life in the great outdoors. He also gets a laugh from surprising (and delighting) travellers by pulling one of his pet joeys out of a backpack mid-tour!
