Folks have told me they use Topaz Adjust, but are annoyed by the “overcooked” images it sometimes produces. With Topaz, I do use the presets but tend to adjust the sliders once applied to tone things down abit. I know what you mean by “overprocessing”…

Occasionally, I do play with the “Feeling Lucky?” button to see what kind of settings are creating their effects, and again, readjust to my taste.

One trick I often use is to create a masking layer, use Topaz effects on a duplicate layer, then place an original layer on top. Then I selectively use the Erase tool at reduced opacity to bring out the Topaz highlights on the original image. I’ve done this specifically to bring out details like chrome engines and components on the original image.

This year will be the last for a Spring and a Fall show. The powers that be decided one a year is enough… Enough for WHOM? Certainly not me!
In tribute to Rod Runs Past, I posted about about 150 edited photos on my blog dating back to ‘07.

As for the future, the next show is this coming weekend. Cruise night on Friday, and the show on Saturday promises about 700 cars.
Lenses clean – check.
Batteries charged – check
Kit packed – check!
So, now you know where I’ll be on Friday night and all day Saturday…

I posted some of the unedited shots from the LA Roadster show on my Picasa page. I took over 600 shots, then deleted any that were technically flawed, leaving 575 to edit and post! I put about 300 of them on Picasa. If you would like to take a look, here is the link

There were reportedly 5000 cars on the grounds and I believe it. After almost 8 hours, I had not covered half the property and was totally burned out! Old age is catching up to me…gonna start pumping iron to get ready for the next show!

I would be very interested in doing a collaboration with someone who has a shot of the Gee Bee racing aircraft. I shot a hot rod today built and painted in the theme of the infamous 50’s racer…( GB 7 )

While editing my latest photo, I made a very basic tutorial video for editing backgrounds in Photoshop or PS Elements. I use Elements 9. If you are just starting to modify photos with this software, this may be helpful!
