I am fortunate to have two nationalities—Canadian and British. I was born in 1966 in Nova Scotia, a fisherman’s daughter, and have been drawing since a very early age.

When I grew up I became a computer geek and did not make much time for art. I did get to visit and live in different places and met my Geordie husband, Steve, working in Bermuda. We moved to England in 2004 where I retrained as a fitness instructor. With more leisure time than before, I began filling sketchbooks again.

I have always been in love with paintings, especially figurative abstracts, but never believed I could become an artist myself. This notion changed when I taught myself to paint in 2008. The process of transforming sketchbook doodles in colourful works is richly rewarding and even addictive.

My characters Pearl and Edmund are like real people to me. They have very distinct personalities, tastes, and behaviours. I want my pictures to tell a story but also leave the viewer wondering what happens next. I have noticed that my paintings can make people smile. That makes me feel good about my art!
