A bug's eye view

A bug's eye view

I take a lot of macro shots of bugs and flowers, it got me to thinking what it must be like from their POV. When I saw a large cluster of this ornamental grass (called Hare’s Tail/Bunny Tail (Lagurus ovatus)) on the beach I got down on my belly in the sand and took this shot.

This is a lovely image, the light is wonderful and the contrast is really effective between the grass heads the background and the dark of the stems. I have just been given a Canon Powershot 640 for my birthday and your photographs have really inspired me to have a go myself.

I really love the POV on this one. A small tuft of grass (sorry Lagurus ovatus) becomes an impenetrable thicket. Hope you didn’t get to dusty getting the shot.

Love this image in B&W, it really moves the focus to the actual textures and shapes. Love this angle too, would look great as a large print!

Your choice of monochrome suits this so perfectly. I also love how they blend from silhouette to front lit as the sky changes in tone. Getting on your stomach was so worth it… you ended up with a stunning shot!
