Parsnips and Olives....

If you were to see me now, crossed legged in my chair
Just crawled out of bed, pj’s on and ruffled hair
I’d offer you coffee, breakfast too, for my home is yours
We’d chat about everything of interest and probably more

You’d see me as I really am, and I’ll tell you as it is
Don’t ask for advice if you don’t want the truth, I say it as it is

This is about me,
and how I really am
Not a made up someone
or some little lost lamb
looking to follow
the truth she can’t swallow

I really don’t like parsnips, struggle with olives too
Other than that I eat really any type of food
I come from a big family so had to learn to share
My sisters hand me downs, too big but did I care!
I’m not materialistic but I like nice things
I hate money, it just ruins everything
I can be selfish, I have been and incredibly naive
Life is for living, at least that’s what I believe
A challenging childhood taught me to appreciate
Life is full of ups and downs and punishment for being late
I take the rough with the smooth, I will survive
Learning from it all, my heart will stay alive
I always thought I was a numbers person, but now I can write
Words soaring round my head, like a bird in free flight
I used to be self conscious about by personal being
Now I love myself, not through vanity but for just being
Skeletons are for the burial ground, so don’t hide them in the closet
I look at myself in the mirror and tell myself to be honest
Happy people make me smile, my friends I truly value
Friendships are easy to find; but only a few will ever be true
My head is full of vivid dreams, shared through night and day
It’s where my creativity was buried; now it’s out to play
My heart has been broken many times, by love given too freely
Alone to long with love still to give, my heart is not yet empty
I have travelled far and wide with excitement and interest
Exploring and searching, a passion my spirit loves best
My mission in life to achieve in what ever I try and do
If I fail its not because I didn’t try, I really can assure you

So if your still here for lunch
we’ll eat as you wish
You can have parsnips and olives
or anything else you prefer on your dish
