Eyes across the room ........

When I joined RB in 2008, I was looking at groups to join I found the Six Word Story group, disbanded I fear, which started me on the writing experience…this poem started as a six word story in my mind but was unable to create the atmophere in just six words..so it grew, and now have developed a new passion other than photography, of writing…
I have collaborated with David Petranker and he very kindly agreed for me to use his picture; Always on My Mind to go along side this poem.

I welcome critical reviews of my work…please bubble me if you have any constructive comments….

I don’t want to be here it’s not my scene
The music is awful I’m not that keen
I don’t want to drink I’ve had enough
The conversation’s boring its really tough

I glance around to see who’s there
My eyes stop dead I sit and stare
A stranger appears across the room
Surrounded by people very soon

His eyes are smiling in my direction
With warm intense colourful affection
My eyes were transfixed, my breathing fast
Love at first sight, finally, at last

My heart is racing, excitement within
I can’t believe this is happening
I glance away into a smoky haze
He moves around to catch my gaze

Who is the man who wakes me up
Is this real, is this luck
His friend distracts him to the bar
Look all about he won’t be far

My eyes are searching all around
Keep looking but nowhere to be found
Look again he must be there
Its torture… it’s just not fair

Later I lay awake unable to sleep
The memory in my head I’ll keep
The face, the eyes and infectious smile
A dream all but for a short while

not quite sure where it came from… started as a 6 word story and got slighty too long for that group…
