Five handcuffs

Five handcuffs by Ronald Wigman

Five handcuffs

Because of copyrights it is not possible to show an image with the use / deformation of the olympic rings in order to expose ideas about the Chinese politics. This limit however has helped to come up with this idea.

The shirt could be usefull as a sport outfit in prisons as well…

Other publicity / campaigns / contributions about the Beijing Olympics you can find here collected by a Dutchman in the advertisement world and here collected by Redbubble member Robinson.

In my zazzle shop you can find the same design showed on different models, colours and the backside printed with logo and instruction. Plus they print larger and their quality of printing is very good!

And some others…

Five handcuffs belongs to the following groups:

Agent Provocateur - T-Shirts with Messages, Altered by Design, ART ACTION UNION - CREATIVE ACTIVISM, Clever Designs, Designers United, Drawn to Cotton- Art on T-shirts, Fine Arts, Graphic Arts and The Dutch Connection

Excellent work, Ronald. You might consider this work as a broader indictment of the very corrupt politics connected to the Olympic games, not just the games in China.

Thanks for your comment! Indeed, it can be used for all the olympics and what happens / might happen in the background…

Funning idea and great works! If I have USD, I will buy one absolutely.

But…I just suggest your guys do not bring it to Beijing, otherwise maybe you will set yourself in troubles. :)

BTW, Ronald, I don’t like your attitude about Tibet . The Tibet people are all Chinese, let’s Chinese guys settle it down. We need time, patience, democracy, but not a statue of freedom.

  • Ronald Wigman

Ronald Wigman in reply to Glen Sun’s comment, 4 months ago

Dear Glen, thanks for your reaction and comment. About Tibet: of course we wish that the Chinese people themselves will be able to solve the problems, the statue of freedom is just used as a symbol, not as a real wish to do it that way. With all kind of publicity from outside we hope that goals will be achieved within a reasonable timeframe!

Thanks, Ronald. I like your artworks, they are ironic, humorous, easily acceptable even for young Chinese (me :)

I have seen some unpleasing (or even disgusting) paintings about Olympics and Tibet, which apply blood color to it. IMHO, these inappropriate artworks maybe block the communications between Tibetan and the rest Chinese people who are working, studying, traveling in Tibet or plan to do it. (like me)

Me too after i made this design! A french reporters group is using the handcuffs as a symbol, not a drawing, not coloured, but the same shape. I saw it in the media a week or so after i published this one…
