The Bell Tower of the Mezquita, ( Cathedral Mosque ), Cordoba, Spain was originally built as a minaret in the 1200’s
Construction of the Mosque started in 785. It was built in stages. The current dimensions of the outer courtyard and naves were laid out in 987.
King Ferdinand 111 captured Cordoba from the Moors in 1236 and the mosque was reconsecrated as a cathedral.
