This is the 2nd version of the Queen of Batons. I liked the first one but wasn’t completely happy with it. I found the first one to be too uncontrolled, which makes no sense for a dada piece. But these are the arguments I have with myself. Is dada completely spontaneous? That is one school of thought. Some artist would throw scraps of paper on a board, however it landed would be the collage. That extreme spontaneity was the real dada. Other artist would be more methodical and it was the subject that was “dadistic” (is that a word? it is now) not the process.
I sort of try both version, but dada collages have a certain traditional look ( and boy if that sentence isn’t full of contradictions) and I’m trying to invoke that more and more. Although most of my pieces are probadly created the first way. LOL.
I kept a lot of the same elements from the first version. It was more of arrangement than anything elsa.
