outstanding image simon
Simon Whittaker replied
Thanks Kathy, this is the first time this wreck has been exposed in a few years so I am glad I got the opportunity to capture it without the whole town posing for photographs on it.

Cheers Phil, thanks mate.

Nice one Si, love the water movement and the colour and comp are lovely!!
Simon Whittaker replied
Thanks Luv – I really appreciate your kind words – you after all the “Landscape Queen” as far as I’m concerned!
Matthew Walters
Great shot Simon. I prefer this one out of the two shots – the smoothness of the water makes this one.
Simon Whittaker replied
Thanks Matt, I really appreciate it mate. I still don’t know which I prefer! I think the motion of the water tends to drag your eye kicking and screaming to the bottom corner on this one.
Nori Bucci
Wow..this is an amazing image!!! Beautiful work!
Simon Whittaker replied
Thanks so much Nori, I am very flattered by your kind words and wonderful compliment ;-)
Lee Varney

I see you went for a drive….........this is stunning Simon…......love the lighting and this one is my fave as I love the white waves in the background…......and the misty water…..so beautiful!
Simon Whittaker replied
Thanks Trace, it is the wreck on woopi main beach. The big strom we had washed the sand away and there is now the most of the wreck showing in the last 20 years.
Thanks for the favouriting too luv!
Cathleen Taraw...
Mmm, love this.
Simon Whittaker replied
Thanks so much Kat – I really appreciate the favouriting too.

Simon this is fantastic. I was hoping to get to “Buster” as well while it was exposed but after seeing your shots I think I’ll leave it to you. I like this one a lot and I don’t have a problem with the water movement leading away from the subject. Even though the sky colour is more saturated in “Alternate ship wreck ” it still leads the eye back. I found myself travelling around and around this. Has heaps of interest, Love it
ps what was the exposure time on this one?
Simon Whittaker replied
Thanks mate for the compliment (can never get enough of those!) The exposure time was 8 seconds. I used an 8 stop ND and a 4 stop grad ND (on my tripod you’ll be pleased to know).
We have GOT to catch up.
kilmann
Phantastic shot with perfect timing and absolutely stunnig colours.

The mood is established so well by the colours and composition. Excellent result …. and thanks for the technical details. Beyond me at the moment … but instructional nevertheless!

Just the right balance of detail and movement in the water. Well captured.
Simon Whittaker replied
Thanks for that. I have actually sold half a dozen copies of this image (elsewhere) and blown it up to 18×12 and it looks great. We have some really rough seas at the moment so I am hoping that there will be even more of the wreck to see (provided it doesn’t refloat and sail off!”
Himiona Grace

This is so beautiful, memories come back of the sea lulling me to sleep when I lived within walking distance of Buster … the tides have with time exposed more than was visible then. It’s a beaut of an image Si, a favourite for me
Simon Whittaker replied 21 days ago
Thanks very much Tainia, I am glad you like this. The last time Buster was this visible was 20 years ago – hopefully it wont be another 20!

The color is so soft …a favorite.
Simon Whittaker replied 7 days ago
Thanks Amy, I have to admit that I am really proud of this image. I was lucky to have a 5 minute break from all the kids jumping over this to capture it.
AmyRalston 7 days ago
ha, ha I know how the kid thing is with 3 step children. A photographer can really appreciate that minute, second of opportunity.
Simon Whittaker replied 7 days ago
It certainly trains you to cut down your preparation time!
