Thank you Aimee, I like your work and really appreciate your comment. Liked your reflection shot it reminded me of a couple of Jean Loup Sieffe’s fashion shots where there were overt reflections of him in the shot. Are you familiar with his work?

You are making me blush now. Thanks for that, a real opportune moment that one, a friend said put 1 lens on your camera and explore your yard – this is the shot I liked most. It is a great exercise.
BTW, I like your portraits – kids are great aren’t they.

  • EnVee

    EnVee

    Lensbaby? Haven’t heard of that … ?

  • Simon Whittaker

    Simon Whittaker

www.lensbabies.com it is a cheap bellows lens that allows you to shift the amount of blurriness to the edge of the frame and also the focal point. Examples of the lens’s work in my profile are “creeper”, “centred and focused”, “isolation” and “vino”. Have a look at those and then have a look at the website. There are two kinds – I strongly suggest the F3 model, its about $400 but better than the F2. Bmail if you would like a chat about it.

there’s something about this shot Simon that just drew me in….
...there seems to be movement, but yet stillness.
the ladder creates some great lines and the contrast between the vine and paint works really well.
is that a passionfruit vine ?

  • Simon Whittaker replied

Well spotted my friend! It certainly is. I am really glad you like this shot, I am really chuffed with it and I am glad you get that sense of movement and stillness. I shot this with a lensbaby, it really seems to add a bit of punch to some shots – it is kind of like a vignette of blurriness. Worth a try if you can spare a couple of hundered dollars (rubles).

Light and DOF are fantastic!!! :O

  • Simon Whittaker replied

Thanks for that, and thanks for favouriting too, I was complaining to a friend that I had nothing to photograph so he challenged me to pick a lens and tour the house and yard. I got two of my best shots that day! Go figure…..

  • Cvail73

    Cvail73

:))) It’s like computer, it’s only about trying. It’s better to be in photographic mood. Usually if I’m not I’ll abstain, unless I have to (If a friend asks me to take photos etc..). Luckily I’m often in the mood, I’m borderline sleeping with my cam, lol!!;)

  • Simon Whittaker replied

Ha ha ha, there’s no problem sleeping with your camera – so long as its been properly turned on! boom boom.
