Her Goodbye to the World-

Do not go gently

into that good night,
But rage,
rage,
against the dying of the light.

I would’ve fought,
at least now I think I would.
But she didn’t
not once,
not at all.
She taught me so well,
the fire and strength within.
To always go for best,
reach til you’re happy,
don’t settle for less.
But all she wanted,
in the end-
was to forget,
let go,
pass on
to the next stage or life.

In the end-
She was so tired.
Had smiled too little in life
and the burden of the world
on her shoulders-
was beginning to wear.
She’d lived-
I know,
I can even remember a time
when her spine was straight,
he eyes were lit up,
and she’d sparkle and tinkle
whereever she went.
But I’ve been on her ride
for sometime at her side
and at least for me,
my youth has had me bouncing back-
Losing her though,
put a big dent in my side.
Strength,
Survive,
I was made-
forged by her.
A soldier of fortune,
Kept solid and true.
And I will keep marching on-
til the day the sun sets on me.
