....a Petrel Point local.
This young Tiger Snake was far more aware of me than I was of him. I was fossicking along the shore line near Petrel Point not looking where I was going when suddenly he was right in front of me. He was ready and had I taken another two steps he would have struck. I back peddled a couple of paces, dropped my things and grabbed my camera. Now with about 3 metres between us, I felt comfortable to photograph him but the image doesn’t show the wide contorted neck they flare when threatened. He was really prepared to defend himself and I was lucky he was a Tiger and not an Eastern Brown which would have surely have chased and attacked within that range.
