The Chair
An old chair and sheiling on the wind swept moor of Achmore, Isle of Lewis, Scotland.
The moorlands of Lewis are dotted with summer sheilings some of them date back to prehistoric times. The more recent ones like this example can be found just out of Stornoway near Achmore. Many are ruins but some are still used today during the peat cutting season.
The Chair belongs to the following groups:
Black and White Photography, Dilapidated Buildings and Landscape Photography Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints, Framed Prints and Posters

Nice one. Not sure if it’s still there. I think this is nearer Acha Mor than the ones I photographed which are nearer Loch an Ois and Loch Bhatandiob. If it is, I did notice a small portable tv outisde. I remember having one the same.

Thanks Ranald, the chair belongs to the “air conditioned” sheiling you photographed and lived next to the bed. I carried it about 200 yards to this position (and back again) just for this shot. (you have to make your own entertainment on Lewis, especially on Sundays!)

Just had a look at the pictures I took and I couldn’t see the chair. Be assured though that on my next visit, I will do a “homage” to the chair.
