Thank you so much pinkyjain! It is rather a yummy blue, isn’t it.

Shanina, it’s so good to get your feedback on this. It’s one of those “unpredictable” woodblock prints, where an effect happened that I was not expecting, but that made me really excited when it did happen. Unfortunately I only have one original, never to be repeated as it is a reductive print and most of the plate has now been chiseled away. The other prints are not nearly as interesting as stand-alone images, but I may still do something more with them.

Thanks Helene. I’m delighted to get your thoughts on this.

This is so beautiful. Reduction prints are so different to all other methods because you get one shot at getting it right. you got this one so right esp the colours.

Oh my God this is just beautiful!!!!

Wow. This is extremely good. This artwork is as steady as a rock. The beautiful pose, the complicated texturing of the female body, the contrast between light and dark: you brought those lements together in perfect harmony. The psychological dept is fascinating. This must be a very tough process of metomorphosis. The kind of mental change and cleansing that feel like dying and, hopefully, getting reborn again. Her body really looks like a coccoon and she must be exhausted by the inner process that sucks out the energy of her. This art really communicates with the language of the heart.

There’s a certain sadness and loneliness about the figure here, Elaine. Part of it comes from the pose and part from the choice of colour. I love the treatment of her hair which suggests a formality that is challenged by her nudity. A great image.

A stunning work, you can feel her exhausting.

Tonia, I’m really delighted by your response. Many thanks.

Martin, it’s so rewarding to hear what others derive from what one creates, and for this piece I am particularly seeking the insight of others. Your response to this is fantastic and very much appreciated. I know there are many who experience the psychological metamorphosis you verbalize so aptly, and which I have tried to convey visually.

You are very observant, Bernd, and I am delighted that you picked up on these elements in this work. Thanks heaps for your feedback.

What wonderfully encouraging words, MaryO. You cannot know how much I appreciate your words.

Very nice. Woodcut, wow, I am working on two woodcuts right now, I only hope they come out as good as yours did. I also like the fact that you have printed in blue, its much warmer then the black. B

BillyLee, I’m certain your woodcuts will meet with my expectations of your work, which is mostly fantastic. And thanks heaps for your lovely comment about my image here.

Beautiful form and wonderful deep blues. I like how she looks as if she’s resting after the hard work of change, or maybe she’s just emerged from the trees themselves.
Elaine van Dyk in reply to JanG’s comment, 2 months ago
JanG, your feedback is most welcome and well considered. It’s so helpful, and really interesting, to receive comments like this, to learn how others perceive my work.
