This is beautiful, Elaine. I have no experience with wood carving, but I imagine this must have been difficult. All the curved lines in the face and the female body. But it looks so great! It is a beautiful, romantic, natural scene with a lot of purity in it. I like the vertical lines on the background; they add a certain tension to the image. Wow, you really are on the roll.

  • Elaine van Dyk replied

A great comment from you Martin! Perhaps RedBubblers could suggest a title? I don’t know what to call this one.

An immediate visual impact. I like the natural look of the figure, the expressive nature of the linework and the colours. Very inspirational!

  • Elaine van Dyk replied

I’m delighted to receive such lovely feedback from you artlein – it’s very much appreciated.

    Silent Night?

  • Elaine van Dyk replied

I like it! Will definitely keep it in mind. There is another “nude” woodblock print on the way, but perhaps a very different feel about it – more one of a feeling of loss or desolation/desperation I think. They were going to be a pair, but I’m rethinking that aspect as they may be too different from each other. We’ll see what eventuates

Lovely work Elaine, I love the rich blue colour

  • Elaine van Dyk replied

Thank you, Phil – the blue is Graphics oil-based printing ink called Milori. I love using it, but it sometimes behaves very strangely.
