Warthogs – you either love ‘em or you don’t. I love ‘em. I still remember the funniest sight of a warthog in Zimbabwe, gleefully running and jumping around, spinning itself in circles during a soft, summer rain shower.

It is such a pleasure to witness how you spread your creative wings and fly skyhigh. This is graphic art at its best. You show so much control, while this is such a difficult technique. It flows, it dances, it communicates.

FlyBoy, it’s so lovely to get your feedback. You make every piece feel special.

Great image there! It reminds me of “the Scream”. What did you do your plate with? is it woodcut, lino-cut?

  • Elaine van Dyk replied

Hi Edward. Thanks for that great comment. I’m delighted that this reminds you of one of my favourite artist’s very famous work! It’s interesting to get an objective view of one’s work from others. Everyone sees things so differently. This is a lino-cut print.

I need to upload my eraser prints. I know “eras-o-cut” sounds lame but some of those erasers and the other modern soft plastic sheet products they make to take the place of linoleum are seductive, they cut like butter. Have you used them?

  • Elaine van Dyk replied

Edward, I wonder if these are what we call rubber block/tiles here. They have a sort of thin, plastic upper-layer. I’ve just started using these see my print Lilies. “Lilies” is a reverse print of part of the original (a print off the back of the block-out paper used during the printing of the, multi-coloured original, full version of this one). I hope to upload the full original, multi-coloured, version soon.

Probably so, they apparently come in a wide range of “feels” or strengths and finishes. I like how you play with color so freely, as in your Lilies piece.
