Virginia McGowan
Love woodblock prints, this is just fabulous, love the colouring.wow another art practice i haven’t tried!
Elaine van Dyk replied
Thanks for you feedback ginnymac, and please note my apology too. But really it would have looked pretty much the same as a woodblock print.
Marion Chapman
I love woodblock too – this is so good.
Bernd Jansons
Great treatment, Elaine. :)
Elaine van Dyk replied
Much appreciated Bernd.
Sandra Chung
These woodblocks are wonder.
Elaine van Dyk replied
Sandra I really appreciate your feedback, and apologise for the accidental misinformation about it being a woodblock. I’m obviously very tired!! I’m working on a set of three of these at the moment, so should post the other two within a couple of weeks.
Elaine van Dyk
OOPS! My sincere apologies everyone, I think I must have been half asleep when I posted this. It is in fact a linocut print – but the effect would have been much the same on the sort of woodblocks I currently have.
Sandra Chung
It’s still lovely. :)
Cindy Perrinj...
Another beautiful work & so stunning in these colours!!!
J.K. York
i love pelicans and spent a lot of time trying to get the perfect shot down in Florida. i love how you did this with him grooming. they do a lot of that. great colors in a wonderful abstract background. superb.
MaryO

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment on my work. Much appreciated.
hugo
this is superb the way the orange just livens up the work, also love the feathers going in many directions. the black line from beak to tail promotes a pleasant composition, and mimicking the background, I think!!
Elaine van Dyk
hugo, what a lovely critique! Thanks so much for taking the time to consider your feedback so well.
Tonia Composto
Love this!!
how do you get that background tone?
Elaine van Dyk replied
Thank you Tonia. The background was done as a monoprint with bits of grass seed-heads that I rolled the ink over (with a stencil block-out for the area where the pelican sits). The lino cut was printed over the top of the monoprint.
Judy Olson
I love all three of the pelican sunsets, what a great grouping. And thanks for explaining your process, I haven’t had any experience with printmaking but I’d like to try it someday after seeing how you did it. It sounds very creative and interesting.
Rosina Lamberti

Gorgeous work, love the Pelican and how you cut him out and the orange. One day we have to do a print swap….when you come down to Mornington one day. B
Elaine van Dyk replied
Oh, what a fabulous suggestion BillyLee – Your work is absolutely superb, and I think it would have to be 3 of mine to one of yours! Thank you so much for that encouragement – just when I’m needing it most!
