Night

Photograph of a Collograph Print
January 2009
Printed on Zerkall Etch 250g
Size of original print is 22.5cm x 30cm

The plate design was made by using wool, cardboard, netting, bits and pieces of plants from my garden, paper…...sealed with wood glue. Ink was applied by rolling it on with a rubber roller, then wiping back softly with a cloth in places. Printed with an etching press.

This was printed up as an edition of 5 original prints. Due to some manual, soft rubbing back of ink, there are very slight variations between each print. The plate has now been destroyed, so no further originals will be printed from it.

The unframed originals are available for sale. If you wish to purchase an original, please contact me directly.

Those prints have such amazing textures. You’ve created a beautiful print. It must be a fairly decent size to have so much detail… but then, you’re so talented this (rb image) could easily be the original size!!

Thanks for the great feedback, georgiegirl – and thanks for highlighting the fact that I didn’t include the size of the original print. I’ve got it in the description now.

Ooooh this looks good! I particularly like how the cats are framed by the plants with the mesh looking curtains behind the silhouette of the flowers. The blue denim look is effective with the fading out to white of prominent features, excellent work!!

  • Elaine van Dyk replied

Thanks you for that wonderful feedback, hugo. I really appreciate the effort you’ve put into critiquing this work (and fortunately for me, these are such positive words).
