Sandra Chung
Reminds me of my grandfathers ‘hen yard’ :) Beautiful.
Elaine van Dyk
Thanks All for your comments. I’m sort of going off in this direction for a little while I think – with birds/other animals. Trouble is I need to get a lot closer to some of the wild birds, but they’re not always so obliging!
botanicfanatic
Whirligig, I love this one and am interested in buying a t-shirt if that’s possible.
botanicfanatic
I’d better add that price may be an issue, so I can’t promise. But I’m keen. :)
Elaine van Dyk
Alison, I haven’t uploaded the image for t-shirts, but will see what’s involved. Will try tonight. Thanks for the compliment.
Elaine van Dyk
Alison, I have managed to upload the image as a t-shirt design, but didn’t want to reduce it too much in size for fear of losing the chickens! Also, rest assured, I fully understand the price issue thing.
georgiegirl
Hey!!! it is big as well… I went to the tshirt pic first! This is a beautiful painting, Whirligig. Well done!!!
georgiegirl
ok, maybe painting isn’t quite the right word… but you know what I mean. It does look like a painting!!!
Elaine van Dyk
Thanks for the comments everyone – I really appreciate them.
Cliff Vestergaard
Masterful work of art !
mawaho
These chooks look like they are in paradise. The background sets them off beautifully and their poses are spot-on.
Elaine van Dyk
Thanks Cliff and mawaho. I absolutely adore chooks. Unfortunately I can’t have any where I live now, which is sad, so I have to be content with drawing them or making images of them
Mel Brackstone
Chooks are great, your artwork makes them look even better!
Stephen Colquitt
Chooks are indeed great
willb
Great stuff. Just like chooks, lol.
I can see an Aboriginal face in the thumbnail, to the right of the 4th chook down. I think it actually drew me to the painting.
Even if it’s not there, I love it.
Elaine van Dyk
Wow, William, it’s amazing how people who look objectively at something see different things. I had another look and can also see the face now – it wasn’t intentional, certainly not on a conscious level. But as I work very much on my “feelings”, who knows….... Also, while studying in the ‘90’s I worked on images relating to my past, which included African masks/spirituality and Christian crosses. I see faces in another person’s work here on RB too, and hers aren’t intentional either, which makes this all the more interesting. And like her, I am not religious, but I am deeply spiritual. Thanks for commenting.
Ivy Izzard
I love chooks and I really love this image. Well done.
Janet Leadbeater
wonderful homely feel
Matt Mawson
I’m also a big fan of chooks. We have four and they follow me around the garden, scratching the ground at my feet. This is a lovely painting. You just know there’s going to be lots of juicy worms and beetles under all those leaves.
Lyn Fabian
These chooks are fantastic! Love the composition and the colours.
Elaine van Dyk
Thanks Ivy, LucidPieces, Matt, and Lyn.
Lance Leopold

I think I’ve seen a seires of these chooks before at a printmakers exhibition, could I be Right?
Evangeline Than
Did you draw these? They’re great!
Elaine van Dyk
Hi MBartworks. I’ve never exhibited this image other than on RedBubble. I do have other prints that revolve around chooks and family, but were part of my art studies, and once again, have never been publicly exhibited. So, alas, unfortunately I cannot claim fame to the series you saw at the printmakers exhibition!
Evangeline, thanks for your encouraging comment. To answer your question, the background is compiled of several layers in photoshop and the chooks were drawn on top of those layers, using a graphic tablet.
Sylvia Karall
Lovely work. Great composition. Well done.
Bobbie
This is wonderful, the colours are gorgeous and I just love chooks.
BruceW

Pagly2
I have commented today that I envy the Artistry and knowledge that goes into producing a work such as this….I can only sit and look and enjoy all that I ‘See’........and in this I see so much..it is beautiful…Thank you…
Elaine van Dyk
Pagly2, you are so welcome. Thank you for taking the time to look at my work and commenting on it.
Belinda "Billy...
I never thought I would say this about a chook picture but this is really really wonderful. I do like this a lot.
Elaine van Dyk replied

Lucindawind
wonderful ..are chooks ..chickens?
Elaine van Dyk replied
Lucindawind, so sorry I haven’t responded to you earlier (had a lot of distractions around that time). Thank you for your feedback. Yes, “chooks/chookies” is the Aussie word for chickens.
