I have witnessed human greed
as though it lay in the palm of my hand.
I have seen criminal deeds
made by an honest man.
When I stood upon the shore
and looked out to the cape,
I saw a what looked to be a sword
but was a only cloud shape.
And men who stood behind yelled
“You cannot see the sea”
the harbor is manmade hell
that keeps it from we
Took I the water in a cupped hand
and asked “What makes it distinct”
They took their batons and beat me down
“Who told you to think?”
Not one single man but
a risen voice of God.
They lifted their batons and cried
“Then we shall conquer God.”
Out in the distance, the sea sleeps
its bosom swells as the waves cap its breast
The sea sounds and I hear
my little world’s giant breath.
