The Edge of the Universe

here is a truth we all must cherish
all things in time do perish
are swept away to a cold blank sea
that lies at the shore of our being
but there is another truth we do not see
one that grows between you and me
that what love touches leaves its mark
though form and substance may yet part
though matter and energy chase the others tail
though entropy in existing never fails
yet an imprint of what is you and I
it remains in the other and never dies
and though that which binds me may yet disperse
i’ll meet you at the edge of the universe
and when we meet our form remade again
our hearts are only twins
that reached for one another once
and will again.
