Below is a video I created of the polar bears of Kaktovik, Alaska….
A polar bear (Ursus maritimus) climbs up a rise on the frozen surface of the tundra. During daylight hours the polar bears in the vicinity of Kaktovik tend to lounge about sleeping. Occasionally one of the bears decides to go for a stroll. That’s when the camera shutters start clicking like machine guns!
Currently polar bears (Ursus maritimus) are listed by the IUCN as Vulnerable. Threats to their existence include hunting and loss of habitat.
